It all started with W.E.B Dubois. He was an African American leader, who demanded an end to pretense. DuBois, and a multiracial group of activists organized the Nathional Association for the Advancement of Colored People(NAACP). The NAACP had a monthly publication called the "The Crisis," whom DuBois was the editor, and he educated readers on issues such as race, relations, and compiling accounts of civil and social injustice.
